Introduction
Stand out in a crowded field with a Business Sustainability and Ethics Certificate. The Business Sustainability and Ethics Microdegree consists of 4-courses providing a concentrated perspective into the complex field of business law, economics, and ethics.
It is designed to provide students with skills to make complex business decisions with regard to economic conditions, technology, business law, and ethics.
Program Outcome
These Microdegree programs will give students the necessary skills to take on management and executive positions in the corporate business world. Microdegree graduates have the confidence to pursue careers in the private sector, in public administration, international organizations, and NGOs.
Curriculum
Graduate Certificate students complete the four main concentration courses of the UBIS MBA program. Only 4 courses total that can be completed in as short as 4 months or as long as 2 years.

MGT 619 Environmental Economics and Management
Credits: 3 US / 6 ECTS
This course provides a clear perspective of the relationship between market activity and the environment. The course integrates a strong business perspective into the development of environmental decision-making for a vantage point often overlooked in more conventional approaches. The course emphasizes the use of economic analytical tools, such as market models, benefit-cost analysis, and risk analysis, to assess environmental problems and to evaluate policy solutions.
MGT 640 Business Ethics
Credits: 3 US / 6 ECTS
This course is based on real cases that show current ethical dilemmas, provide a basis for evaluating business ethics, while encouraging stronger values in future business leaders. Students will analyze common themes in less-than-ethical decision-making and explore why leaders make ethical compromises in business that they would not make in their personal lives. Also, this course reviews the decision-making process of business leaders today to illustrate why good leaders often make questionable decisions.
MGT 641 Ethics in Informational Technology
Credits: 3 US / 6 ECTS
This course provides a strong understanding of the legal, ethical, and societal implications of information technology. This course examines issues associated with the professional code of ethics, cyberattacks and cybersecurity, security risk assessment, privacy, electronic surveillance, freedom of expression, censorship, protection, and infringement of intellectual property, development of high-quality software systems, the impact of IT on society, social networking, and the ethics of IT corporations.
LAW 602 Business Law and Ethics
Credits: 3 US / 6 ECTS
This course provides theory and practical applications in law and ethics. The course presents current controversial issues at the intersection of business, law, and ethics. This course encourages lively classroom debate on pertinent topics, from climate change to the gig economy to telematic surveillance to transgender workplace rights.
