Admissions

  • Step 1

Complete the attached International Student Application Form. There is no closing date as applications are processed throughout the year. However, you are advised to apply well in advance because there could be delays when applying for a Canadian Study Permit.

Send your completed International Student Application Form with all supporting documentation and the required application fee to the Admissions Office.

Supporting documentation includes:

  1. Proof of English Language Proficiency (TOEFL or any other internationally recognized English test)
  2. Academic Transcripts for previous schools you had attended
  3. Resume (If you have any employment experience)
  • Step 3

We will evaluate your application: based on your academic qualifications and English language skills for your chosen program of study.

  • Step 4

We will confirm the receipt of your application. If your application is successful, we will create a package for you, which will include the following:

  1. Correspondence indicating the program to which you have been admitted and the starting date of the program. We will indicate any conditions that must be fulfilled before enrollment can be confirmed.
  2. An invoice for tuition fees and other charges.
  3. Student services information, including health insurance, accommodation, etc.
  • Step 5

In order to accept the offer of a placement in one of our programs it will be necessary to pay the tuition fees and other charges due. This will include the registration fee and tuition, usually for the first academic year. Payment of the amount due should be made in Canadian dollars to the College of your choice by bank draft, money order or T/T wire transfer. After receipt of your tuition fees we will send you the official Letter of Acceptance and a tuition fee receipt or tuition fee deposit receipt that are needed to apply for the Temporary Resident Visa and Study Permit.

  • Step 6

Apply for your Temporary Resident Visa and Study Permit at the appropriate Canadian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate in your country. The processing time will vary and it is best to apply as soon as possible. The main requirements for the Temporary Resident Visa and Study Permit are:

  1. Completed Form: Application for a Study Permit
  2. Proof of Acceptance (This is the original Letter of Acceptance issued by the College you intend to enroll)
  3. Proof of Identity (A valid passport and four additional passport-sized photos)
  4. Proof of Financial Support (You must be able to prove that you will be able to support yourself financially while you are in Canada)
  5. A medical evaluation as required by regulations for certain countries.

Exact details regarding Temporary: Resident Visas and Study Permits can be obtained form the nearest Canadian diplomatic mission.

  • Step 7

After your application for a Temporary Resident Visa and a Study Permit has been approved by the Canadian Embassy, you are ready to plan your move to Canada, The student services coordinators at the College which had accepted you are able to help you with this transition and will pleased to assist with any details of your move.

  • Step 8

When you enter Canada you must:

  1. Satisfy an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your studies
  2. Have been accepted by the College you have applied for admission
  3. Prove that you have enough money during your stay in Canada to pay for tuition fees, living expenses for yourself and accompanying family members, and return transportation for yourself and accompanying family members.

Welcome to Canada!! Bienvenue au Canada!! You need to contact the College and register for your semester after you arrive in Toronto.

Scholarships and Funding

New international students are automatically assessed for eligibility for a TIC International Scholarship for Excellence when they submit their application for admission through the Office of International Education.

NO APPLICATION FOR SCHOLARSHIP IS REQUIRED.

Eligibility: International applicants to, and currently enrolled international students at Toronto International College.

Selection criteria: candidates must have been registered in a one-year (two-semester) academic program at the Toronto International College and must have achieved 85% or higher in their GPA in their previous studies.

Value: CAD$4000 for full scholarship: CAD$2000 or CAD$1000 for partial scholarships per annum.

Duration: Payable only to cover the tuition fees for the ESL (English as a Second Language) courses or EAP (English for Academic Purposes) or any foundation courses required by the College prior to the commencement of the university preparation courses.

Under circumstances when a student has fulfilled the English proficiency requirement of the College, the scholarship recipient may apply the total value to offset the cost of the regular academic courses or programs.

Number per year: Scholarships at TIC are limited and the number of scholarships offered is dependant upon available funding.

Offers: Some students may be made a scholarship offer at the same time as they receive their offer of a course place/seat, but the majority of scholarship offers will be made in October/November/December, February/March/April, June/July/August to coincide with the start of the College’s three main semesters.

Retention: Maintain a GPA (Grade Point Average) of 85% or above on a 100 percent scale or 4.0 on a five-point scale or 8.5 or above on a ten-point scale.

NO APPLICATION NECESSARY. All international students will be assessed and those who meet selection criteria will be made an offer.

Other details:

  1. In any one year, not all departments may make offers of these scholarships, or may restrict them to certain courses.
  2. All scholarship offers are conditional upon enrolment in an approved course/program of the College.

Eligibility criteria for the TIC International Scholarship for Excellence

International students who have outstanding academic results in their previous secondary or post-secondary studies may be eligible for a TIC International Scholarship for Excellence.

Some applicants may receive a scholarship offer with their offer of a course place/seat from the Office of International Education of the Toronto International College.
