Program Overview

The Online MBA program is designed to meet the needs of working business professionals. You will receive the same quality instruction and cohort model as students in our Evening MBA program but in a 100% online format. The courses offer a balance of advanced qualitative and quantitative skills designed to help students capitalize on their future and directly influence their career advancement. In the cohort model, students progress through the curriculum together, forming professional relationships with each other, faculty, and other industry leaders. The core curriculum includes courses such as Strategic Management, International Business, Financial Management, Operations Management, and Marketing, with an additional concentration in Organizational Leadership.

Organizational Leadership

The Organizational Leadership Concentration is designed for students who seek to take a leadership role within an organization. The value of the concentration in Organizational Leadership lies in the opportunity provided to explore knowledge, skills, and attitudes that move organizations forward and add value. This field acknowledges the absolute necessity of hard skills in business organizations and life while providing a window into the world of the soft skills that are necessary to move a unit or an organization forward. The concentration is comprised of two courses: Organizational Behavior, and Leadership. Organizational Behavior explores what is known about individuals, groups, the structures we put them in, and the environment they work within. Students address organizational behavior and how it is impacted by values, diversity, and technology. The process through which managers learn to apply concepts from the behavioral sciences to observe, understand and influence behavior in the workplace will be examined. Concepts such as motivation, leadership, and application of techniques for individual and organizational growth and decision-making in a global environment are explored. Leadership explores the development of a theoretical basis of what intrinsically and extrinsically motivates people to exceptional performance. The course examines different leadership styles, personal leadership effectiveness, and contemporary leadership literature. Students analyze the ways leadership and culture shape an organization’s environment and history. Both of these courses consider the value of scholarly research as a knowledge base for understanding and applying the knowledge to add value to units and organizations. Both courses use theoretical foundations and opportunities to practice the knowledge and provide opportunities, in a safe environment, to try out some of the attributes that are known about leadership. In addition to coursework, students have the opportunity to participate in Executive Development Events exclusively designed for our MBA students and Business Alumni networking events. The Fermanian School of Business is committed to serving the experienced business professional with the best value in quality, academic rigor, professional support services, and individual attention to support students in meeting their academic and professional goals.
