Career Opportunities
After completing your studies for an MBA with a specialisation in Healthcare Management, you’ll be uniquely qualified to tackle different responsibilities in the healthcare sector, based on your preferences. Because it’s such a large industry, and continually evolving, the demand for skilled professionals is always high. As an MBA – Healthcare Management graduate, you can work as:
Consultant for Health Management
Work as a corporate health manager, and assist corporations in designing appropriate health protocols and work conditions for their employees. The possible tasks you’ll face are varied – you might be responsible for designing a healthcare programme, planning a strategy for integrating chronically ill employees into everyday business operations or working with a safety specialist on accident prevention. Regardless of the exact role, you’ll have, your responsibility will be to connect the healthcare industry to the general public.
Account Manager for Hospitals
As an Account Manager, you’ll work with hospitals as a contact person for various touchpoints. You’ll be responsible for nurturing long-term customer relationships, helping customers operate more efficiently, and mediating the extensive healthcare knowledge your employer has to the wide circle of clients it works with. Come up with new strategies to increase profitability from existing customer relationships, and with new strategies to reach potential new clients.
Management Consultant in Healthcare
Help domestic and international healthcare enterprises run themselves more efficiently, without losing sight of the quality of service they need to provide. As a management consultant, you’ll conduct market analysis on behalf of your clients, recommend restructuring steps and suggest and implement cost-saving and value-adding business strategies. You’ll work hard towards turning companies into industry leaders, and build your name and reputation in the process.
Curriculum
In the first part of your studies, you’ll focus on developing the skills that will make you an excellent manager, regardless of industry. You’ll then move on to industry-specific, specialist knowledge, which when combined with the business fundamentals understanding you’ve acquired, will help you apply strategic and operational thinking in ways that fit the healthcare industry.
Explore different healthcare system delivery models, international healthcare policies and laws and the unique economic conditions of the healthcare industry. Learn to know the various healthcare market drivers, how policy is designed and which interest groups need to be taken into consideration: politicians, the general companies and medical and pharmaceutical corporations.
By understanding the full scope of how healthcare policies are designed, you’ll improve your chances of successfully navigating them in your future career as a healthcare manager.
